Crab Cove in Alameda is a great place to get in touch with the wonderful world of the tidal zone, especially for younger children. Crab Cove is a small and shallow bay that gets exposed to a great distance in low tides, making it the best place to see the sand digging crabs and other mud creatures. On Monday, May 27 (Memorial Day) will see an early low tide in Alameda, and I'll be guiding a nature walk with activities in Crab Cove. The walk is about  2 miles, easy. The event is planned to take about 3.5 hours including fun nature activities, and will end at Crown Beach, which is good for swimming. Full details will be emailed upon registration.
