Mitchell Canyon is on my top list of spring wildflowers areas in the East Bay. On this hike I'll take you on a beautiful trail along a Mitchell creek that is home to a large diversity of wildflowers, including the endemic Mt. Diablo Globe Lily.
The trail is 2.5 miles partial loop, level easy (but not accessible to strollers/wheelchairs). It is located on the north side of Mt. Diablo State Park, about 1 hour and 15 minutes drive from Sunnyvale. The hike will begin at 10:00 am and is planned to take about 3.5-14 hours at an easy pace with breaks.
There is a visitor center with restrooms and a shaded picnic area at the trailhead. Hike cost is $35 per family. An entry fee of $6 per car is required.
Detailed information will be emailed to the enrolled families.
